"NIDDK has launched a new Specimen Access Program (SAP) for requesting specimens from the NIDDK Central Repository. This process replaces the X01 Resource Access mechanism (PAR-22-171) and serves as the updated pathway for all specimen requests. The SAP provides a streamlined application and review process for investigators to request specimens from NIDDK-supported clinical studies. All requests undergo scientific merit review and stewardship evaluation to ensure responsible use of valuable repository resources based on funding status and specimen availability (depletion risk).
Review Pathways & Timelines
Timelines vary based on submission completeness. For Full Scientific Merit Review, applicants will receive decision letters outlining approval, conditional approval, requested revisions, or non-approval. Approved requests will include information on specimen quantities, release conditions, and next steps.
